Field notes on film photography, long walks, and the odd darkroom experiment.

Pushing Tri-X two stops

Shot a roll at 1600 on an overcast afternoon and gave it an extra four minutes in the developer. Shadows went muddy, but the highlights held better than I expected. Next time I will try a gentler agitation pattern.

The long way around the reservoir

Eighteen kilometres, two thermoses of tea, and one very curious heron. The light after six o'clock is worth the walk on its own.

Building a cheap film dryer

A wardrobe bag, a small fan, and a cheap filter from the hardware shop. Dust spots dropped noticeably compared with hanging rolls in the bathroom.
